Can you find any woman who has certain distaste for fashion? Perhaps not! Truly speaking, there is none, and can’t be since from time immemorial women have some inseparable relation with the notion of fashion. It is for them is a concept but this has also gone through dramatic changes.

Even in the case of earrings too the same idea is prominent. Earrings were prominent in the ancient civilization, as was in the mediaeval ages, and also in the present age. Now the latest trend is of the pearl earrings. What has been found is that the pearl earrings have taken the industry by storm, and with its projection in the movies of Hollywood its appreciation is expanding by leaps and bounds.
It is to be noted that the pearls happen to be one of the most commonly used gems for all types of earrings; it doesn’t matter whether it is a pierced or a clip-on kind. Now, if we go the history we will find that earrings have been in use from the years of the ancient civilizations, when they were regarded as ornamentals or accessories to adorn the face. In spite of the great difference of time the pearl earrings in this day and age are also regarded or used in the same style to increase the overall presentation or to simply embellish the face.

Now why are pearl earrings so famous and largely sought? The chief reason being they are kind of natural products. It should be taken into consideration that the pearls, in general, are known to have come from oysters but it is also an important fact that not all oysters can produce pearls. It is learnt through various studies, that Pearl producing oysters and mussels belong to the phylum Mollusca, this a particular group that is noted for their mantel which is a special type of tissue that allows development of natural pearls through the aid of whatever foreign object (dirt, stone, small life forms, and other tiny particles) that might get stuck between the mantle and the Mollusca shell. Now again the pearls can be natural or cultured.

What has been found that it is very difficult to find natural pearls, if the cost factor is taken into consideration! But there has always been a great demand for pearls, since the desire to wear pearl earrings has always been high, however this in no way did correspond with the limited supply of natural pearls. But the market knows no law. For which there arose the need and demand that paved the way to pearl culturing, which is usually done by putting in bits of mantle tissue for saltwater mollusks and a piece of small round bead for freshwater mollusks.
In the present age, the pearl earrings that are found in jewelry and department stores are all imitation pearls. They are in general made from beads, glass, or shells with coating of lacquer or ground fish scales to adopt the luster and color of real or natural pearls, even though they can also be artificially colored. But there is a certain difference between the natural and cultured from imitation pearl earrings.
Why is it necessary to recognize the difference? Since there is a great chance for the first time buyers to get duped, as they are in no way able to tell the difference between natural, cultured, or imitation pearls. Whereas, any expert from this trade will be able to recognize this at the very first instance. So, if you at any time intend to buy pearl earrings either contact any expert or have it from the reputed retailers.
