At any rate, the Byzantine Empire fell to the Ottoman Turks around the year 1453. While they ruled the land, their way of life was so focused, that some of their ways influence the world today.
The art of crafting jewelry was an important aspect to the Byzantine Empire and taken very seriously. Gold, silver and lots of gems were used for their jewelry and those who crafted it created a style that was all their own. Rulers and those in high society wore jewelry to show their status. The placement of rings, the size of Byzantine chains all meant something and symbolized a person’s worth.
